Importing SBOM Parts Into a Bucket
Importing SBOM parts from other sources is a common and easy way to add parts to a bucket. You can import parts from these types of SBOM data files:
- SPDX v2.2 or 2.3 data file (
.spdx)
- CycloneDX v1.4 data file (
.jsonor.xml)
- Revenera Code Insight project export data file (
.json)

The maximum data file size is 250MB.
To import SBOM parts into a bucket:
- Open the Manage Buckets page ( SBOM Management > Manage Buckets ).
- The page contains a grid showing all currently defined buckets and their properties.
- Locate the bucket you into which you want to import parts.
- Use one of these methods to provide the SBOM data file whose contents you are importing:
- In a File Explorer or file manager instance currently open, locate the SBOM data file, and drag and drop it into the box indicated on the Import SBOM page.
- Click anywhere within the indicated box on the Import SBOM slideout to open a new instance of the File Explorer or file manager. Within the Explorer or file manager, select the SBOM data file and then double-click it (or select Open ) to add it to the box.
- Click Import to start the import process.
- A message in the top right corner of the page confirms that the import process has been placed in the Jobs queue and lists the Job ID for the import.
- The Jobs page is automatically opened so that you can view the status of your import job. (Use the Job ID listed in the confirmation message to locate the job.)
- Once the job is complete, you can view the imported SBOM parts. (See Viewing SBOM Parts.)
